A landmark pub in Sunderland is set to re-open following a £260,000 refurbishment.
The Board Inn on Durham Road in East Herrington will be reopening after recent construction.
The renovation will include an open-plan dining area, a new beer garden and new HD screens for live sport.
The pub is also advertising two new jobs to anyone 18 or older.
Deputy Mayor of Sunderland Councillor Doris Macknight will be pulling the first pint of the evening at the reopening on March 10 at 5:00pm.
The pub is introducing a full lineup of activities with sport on Monday night, pub quizzes, pool and darts and live bands and a Sunday roast.
There will be six new HD screens and a projector being installed for all types of sports viewing, with football and horse racing being two main sports.
Manager David Martin said: “We’re making a great pub even better, with the most superior sports viewing, and a community hub of which we’re really proud.”
The Board Inn has raised £2,000 for the charity St. Benedict’s Hospice.
They do it in support of beloved Sunderland local Elaine Fenton, who recently passed away.
