Hartlepool mental health charity launches a new way of tackling mental health

With male suicide rates in the North East increasing, groups like STAGS are of the utmost importance.
Meeting on Thursday nights at Rift House Youth Centre, these men break down stereotypes of masculinity by opening up about their thoughts and encouraging others to do the same.
But, this support group is different. More like a youth club, STAGS let males engage in activities like pool, darts and table tennis, when they don’t feel ready to talk.
It is this different method of socialising that may be the key to addressing the rising suicide rates in the North East.
