Over 4,000 club runners and fun runners took part in this year’s Sunderland 10k and Half Marathon.
The event, which is now in its eighth year, took place on Sunday 13 May in Keel Square.
Chris Lines, an organiser at the event, said: “We’ve definitely got a record field in the 10K, which is brilliant. Two and a half thousand runners have signed up for that, so the event has grown steadily over the years.
“It’s become a big city event. This is the third year we’ve been on Keel Square, right in the city centre, which is one of the symbols of the regeneration of Sunderland.”
Team GB marathon runner Aly Dixon stood on the starting line cheering on runners.
The theme for this year’s event was #runwiththetide, leading up to the Tall Ships Races in July.
