Emergency services are carrying out a search and rescue operation to find a missing 17-year-old in the River Wear.
At 3.22pm today (Tuesday, August 30) two 17-year-old males were seen in the water at the mouth of the Wear, near to the Old Pier at Sunderland Yacht Club.
It is thought they had been in a dinghy when they got out to swim in the water and got into difficulty.
One of the males has been rescued, along with two 17-year-old females who were also in the dinghy.
