Body found in River Tyne identified as missing man

A body has been found in the River Tyne and has been identified as missing man Aidan Dickinson.

At 6.47pm on Monday, August 29, police received a report that the body of a man had been found in the river near to Collingwood Terrace in Dunston, Gateshead.

Police and fire services attended.

Aidan had been reported to police as a missing person on Sunday, August 28.

He was last seen in Fontwell Drive in Bensham on Tuesday although he had not made contact with his family since Sunday, August 21.

The 21-year-old was from Gateshead.

His next of kin have been informed.

A report has been prepared for the coroner.

Thoughts go out to his family and friends known Aidan through football he played as a youngster for Cleveland hall and I’m sure there are alot of lads who loved Aidan he was a lovely funny lad a good team player and a great friend so sad absolutely gutted and so emotional to think one of my sons team mates have tragically died like this R.I.P and thinking of his family dont know how they will get over this x
