The A19 Southbound has been closed following reports of a vehicle hitting a Metro bridge near Percy Main.
The road is closed between A193 Tynemouth Road (Howdon Roundabout) and A187 (Tyne Tunnel).
There are no trains running between Wallsend and North Shields in both directions until further notice.
Go North East are accepting Metro tickets in the affected area. Bus service 1 operateS between Wallsend and North Shields.
Metro passengers are advised that the affected bridge is currently being inspected, we will update when more information becomes available
