Newcastle Catering Business Donates Cup Cakes to NHS Staff

A North East business has shown its appreciation to health workers by baking and donating cupcakes to NHS staff in Newcastle.

MK Catering donated 200 cupcakes to frontline staff who are fighting the Covid-19 pandemic at the Royal Victoria Infirmary on Friday last week. In the next week, they’re due to deliver more cupcakes to the Freeman Hospital in Newcastle, James Cook Hospital in Middlesbrough, and St. George’s Park Hospital in Morpeth, Northumberland.

Matthew Daniel, owner and director said: “We wanted to show a little token of our thanks to the NHS front line staff who are doing an amazing job of tackling Covid-19.”

The next few months hold much uncertainty for the hospitality sector, as social distancing guidelines are likely to remain in place even when lockdown is lifted.

Daniel continues: “Our business is built on large events and gatherings of more than 30 people, and it’s going to be a while before we see any weddings.”
