Anthony Hindmarch, member of the events team at Sunderland City Council says: “We target both active and inactive people across the city and region. We have three routes : 3 miles, 7 miles, and 11 miles, that start and finish in Herrington Country Park.”

The easiest is the three-mile route which is wheelchair and pushchair friendly and includes scavenger hunt specifically designed for families and children.

Anthony Hindmarch continues: “The 7 & 11 mile routes are more challenging and take part in the park but then head out up to Penshaw Monument and through the very pleasant countryside along the river wear valley.”

Sunderland City Council intends to provide this low-cost event in aim to appeal to more residents.

The event will take place on June, 30 in Herrington Country Park. The entry fee is £11 and children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Attend the event here.
