New ‘DIY’ radio station Slink Radio opens in Newcastle

 

Slink radio, a new online radio platform based in Newcastle opened it’s doors in May and wants to “represent people who don’t get represented”.

The new station which went on air May 4th in Newcastle City Centre, is looking to represent the underground scene in the North East.

The venture was set up by three friends, Kieron Deane, Alex Cox and Simon Leeks.

Slink Radio director, Kieron Deane said: “I run Slink Radio with two other lads, Coxy and Simon it’s brand new online radio station based in the North East.

“We want to represent all things culture, food music, sports and live events.

“We broadcast our radio from right here in the centre of Newcastle

“Myself and the other directors came together by a love of radio and music.”

The goal for Slink Radio and it’s directors is to represent those who they feel are under-represented by the main stream radio stations and turn their passion into a full-time job.

“The end came is to start different events, collaborate with a lot of different people, get advertising and sponsorship and turn this into a full time job.” He continued.
