The Gateshead Gin Festival is set to return to Tyneside this September for a second consecutive year.

Beer and Music Festival, who run the event, have been running festivals since 2010 and set up the gin festival last year due to demand for the spirit in the community.

Organiser and volunteer Andy Bourn said: “This is now our second Gin Festival, we are also currently planning our second pop-up Christmas Gin party as well as recently hosting the first Gateshead Rum and Gin shack.”

Gins expected to be showcased at the event include London Dry Gins, Sloe and Spice Gins and the New Western Style Gins. There will also be a selection of Rums, Whiskeys and flavoured vodkas to try.

Music will also feature at the festival with DJ Will Caulker providing tunes throughout the evening. There will also be a selection of hot and cold snacks on offer.

These events which started as small community events have grown significantly and now attract a wide variety of visitors.

Andy added: “The feedback we receive make the hours of planning and organising worthwhile, particularly since our events are all organised and run by volunteers at Gateshead Rugby club.

The Gin Festival takes place on Friday 15 and Saturday 16 September from 6.30pm until 11.30pm on both nights at Gateshead Rugby Club.

Tickets are priced at £8 per person, including £2 off the first gin purchased. Tickets have sold out for Saturday, but there is still availability for Friday’s event.
