The route begins at the Bamburgh pub on South Shields seafront, travels past Souter Lighthouse, through Witburn and onto Seaburn Beach.

You can join the run at any point along the course – follow our Facebook live stream and Twitter to find out how they are progressing.

You can also comment and share your stories on our live-stream on this page and on the SR News Facebook site.

World Day for Physical Activity was started by organisation Agito Mundo, whose aim is to promote physical activity around the world.
