Following ticket touts charging thousands of pounds for second hand Ed Sheeran tickets, Stormzy fans are the latest targets of extortionate reselling.
Whilst the prices are yet to reach the extremities of Ed Sheeran’s Metro Radio Arena tour-stop, second-hand sales of Stormzy’s ‘Gang Signs & Prayers’ album tour are going for more than double their original prices.
The tour starts in Dublin on the 29th March, ending in Brixton on 4th May. The ‘Big For Your Boots’ MC will be in Newcastle on the 6th April performing at the o2 Academy.
Stormzy fans across the region are angry at the price of second hand ticket sales. James Stevenson says “It’s shocking and there needs to be more done about it. From the artists, the venues and legislation to prevent it. Ultimately hurts the consumer and could prevent die hard fans attending shows, especially for an act like Stormzy – his audience is relatively urban and often lower class so could easily be priced out by scalpers and it’s a massive shame.”
Roxanne Thompson missed out on the original tickets and her boyfriend paid for expensive second hand tickets. Roxanne explains “I missed out on tickets and my boyfriend stupidly paid over £70 for one for me! Could not believe it and told him to cancel it! Absolutely extortionate for a gig at the o2!”
The rapper has taken to steps to help fans acquire tickets for fair prices.
