Come down to city campus on November 29 to see two of Santa’s reindeer.

The reindeer will be at the university between 12pm and 4pm. The University of Sunderland Students Union have organised the festive event following the success of their petting farm earlier this year.

Sandra Tibbo, the university’s events and activities programmer said: “This is the first time this event has taken place at the uni. You have probably seen our recent animal farm events, which have been massively popular with over 1000 students attending.”

The reindeer are coming from Riggmoor Mobile Petting Farm in Ripon, North Yorkshire – the same company who brought the animals to the petting farm event.

Riggmoor’s animals are insured and part of DEFRA – the Department of Environment and Rural Affairs.

The promotional company Route 69 will be taking photographs of students, staff and families with the reindeer and Santa’s sleigh. Free photo keyrings will be available to everyone.

The Students Union will also be taking photographs at the event to post on social media.

Sunderland University Choir is attending at 1pm. This has been organised through the Chaplain, Chris Howson.

Zoe Thomson, a member of the choir said: “There will probably only be about half a dozen of us as people have other commitments with uni and work. We’ll be doing a couple of carols including Ding Dong Merrily on High and Silent Night.”

The university spent £950 to have the two reindeer and a sleigh on campus. They are hoping that this event will be as successful as the previous one.

If you go to the event, please send us your pictures of the reindeers to our Twitter @SRNewsNow.
