Everyone is invited to come along and join in the fun at the annual Active Sunderland BIG Bike Ride.
The event, which offers three alternative rides, providing a route to suit all ages and abilities, takes place on Sunday, June 12.
All of the rides will start on the Riverside at St Peter’s near the University of Sunderland.
The longer 20 and 35 mile rides will utilise Sunderland’s expansive cycle path network visiting many areas across the city.
The shorter 5 mile family ride will go along the excellent cycle paths from the riverside to Roker and Seaburn.
The focus for the event is on leisure, recreational and family cycling.
Councillor John Kelly, Sunderland City Council’s portfolio holder for public health, wellness and culture, said: “We are delighted once again to organise the Active Sunderland Big Bike Ride.
“The event has been an outstanding success in previous years and has been very popular with hundreds of cyclists”.
Coun Kelly added: “Cycling is a great way to get active and have fun with your friends and family, whatever your age or ability.
“There are many new things to look forward to this year, and I’m sure that the family fun activities and sports taster sessions will be a great addition to the main event.”
In addition to the bikes rides a family fun programme of activities will take place during the day on the Riverside at St Peter’s.
The activities will consist of Have A Go sports taster sessions and traditional family sports day activities.
Entry is online only. A Family Ride costs £10.00 per person, with the 20 Mile Ride costing £11.00 p/p and the 35 mile ride costing £12.00 p/p.
