Police cadets in Newcastle ran online forum about child sexual exploitation (CSE) and online safety last night (Wednesday, March 23).

Members of the public could ask questions all about the work that Northumbria Police does to tackle CSE.

The forum also gave people the opportunity to ask for help and advice about staying safe online and they can also find out what support is available to anyone who might be the victim of CSE.

The two hour session was managed by PC Nicola McGregor, who oversees the cadets in the Newcastle area.

PC McGregor said: “The online forum gives people the chance to take part anonymously and ask any questions that they might want about child sexual exploitation or online safety.

“They don’t have to give us any personal details, they can log on, take part and get any help or advice that they might need.

“CSE is a very difficult and emotive subject and I’d encourage anyone wanting more information on the issue to join us and take part.

“I’d also urge anyone thinking of becoming a cadet to log on also.

“Although I will be there overseeing the session the cadets will be running the forum and can answer any questions about becoming a cadet and can also talk about what it’s like to be a Northumbria Police cadet.”

The online forum is taking place on tonight between 5pm and 7pm and can be accessed by clicking here just before the event starts at 5pm.
