Police in Newcastle want to identify a little boy who helped them clean up after the derby match.
After the Derby match on Sunday, March 20, one boy stayed behind to help officers clear up police tape from an area outside St James’ Park.
The majority of the 52,000 supporters had left the stadium.
CCTV footage from Strawberry Place, that had been used to monitor the supporters as they were leaving the ground, captured the moment the boy helped the police make sure the area was left nice and tidy.
Police are appealing for the little boy’s parents or guardians to make contact with them so they can thank him for his hard work and efforts on match day.
Northumbria Police Operations Commander, Chief Superintendent Steve Neill said: “We’d love for this little boy and his parents or guardians to contact us so we can arrange to say thank you properly for the helping hand he gave our officers on Sunday after the match.
“He played his part in what was a very successful policing operation on derby day and it’s only right that he gets his thanks from myself and the force for the work he put in.”
Police are appealing for the little boy’s parents or guardians to make contact with them by ringing 101 and asking to speak to central Chief Inspector Alison Best.
