Singer Ellie Goulding made an appearance in the North East his week as part of her Delirium World Tour.
The Metro Radio Arena in Newcastle held the stage for the 29 year old singer on Wednesday March 16, as she performed hits from her latest album Delirium.
Thousands of fans packed out the arena to see Ellie perform some of her most well-known hits, including Goodness Gracious, On My Mind, Anything Could Happen and Love Me Like You Do, which was number one in over 70 countries and broke the record for the most streamed song after it was featured in the hugely popular film Fifty Shades of Grey.
Dedicated fans refused to let the freezing March weather deter them, as they queued for hours outside of the Metro Radio Arena for the chance to see Ellie arrive at the venue, and to bag the front row standing spaces.
Lyria Christensen, from Morpeth said:“I’ve been waiting outside for nine hours in the freezing cold and I skipped school for this. But it’ll be worth it because I’m really excited for this. I’ve waited for years for her to come back to the North East.”
Ellie has released three studio albums, selling over 20 million records since her first album “Lights” was released in 2010. She has also Her success has gone from strength to strength, as two of her albums reached the number one spot and she bagged herself two Brit Awards.
Her show in Newcastle was the 6th UK show from her current world tour which is her third and biggest, and is set to last until later this year. The tour kicked off in Hamburg, Germany on January 21, and will round off in Perth, Australia on October 12.
