A man has died after falling from Marsden Grotto cliffs in South Shields.
At 8am, on Sunday, March 13, police received a report that a man had fallen from the cliffs at Marsden Grotto and into the water.
The police and coastguard responded to the incident and a body of a man was recovered from the water.
Despite the efforts of the emergency services, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Enquiries are ongoing to identify the man and anyone with any information is asked to contact police on 101, quoting reference number 342 13/03/16.
