Wine goes on offer, flower shops go crazy and chocolate goes on sale. Today is Mother’s Day.

We all have something special we would like to say to our mothers, whether that be a thank you for doing three weeks worth of washing in one day, or helping you look after your children when you need a break. Your mother will be there to help.

Here are some messages for all of the mothers in the North East, from your loving children:

Alisha Jackson, 20, from Newcastle said:

“Dear momma bear, I am sorry that I could not be there to spend Mother’s Day with you. You are truly the most beautiful person I know – inside and out. I love you lots. Happy Mother’s Day, Leila Dhalai.”

Matthew Wright, 18, from Ouston said:

“Happy Mother’s Day Mam! Thanks for helping me out with university and all of my food packages! Love from me, Ellie, Lewis and of course the dog Sam. We love you very much.”

Rebecca Harding, 19, from Birtley said:

“Have a good day Mam! I hope you like your presents from your four crazy kids: Dean, Jake, Emma and of course me!”
