Sunderland Football Club have today released a statement on reduced ticket prices for fans, announcing that they are freezing ticket prices for fans of all ages.

The new ticket prices will be put in place from next season.

Ticket prices in all categories have been reduced, meaning fans can watch their favourite team for less.

From next season, adult season tickets will cost £350, while over-65s can visit the Stadium of Light for £250.

Prices for younger fans have also been reduced – young adults (22 and under) can watch Sunderland for £170, and family packages will be available from £375.

The reduction in the cost of ticket prices is part of a long-term ethos of the club, which say “fans are what makes football great, especially for Sunderland Football Club”.

The revised system comes just a few days after Liverpool Football Club reduced the cost of their ticket prices in response to a protest, where fans walked out of Anfield in the 77th minute of the game against Sunderland, with Jermaine Defoe snatched a late equaliser to help bring a point back to the North-east.

The protest staged by Liverpool came after the club announced that ticket prices were set to increase for fans next season, partly to accommodate the extension of the Main Stand at Anfield.

The new season tickets will be available to buy from Monday 7th March, with the deadline for purchase is 5pm on Wednesday 6th April.
