The Environmental Agency has issued flood warnings in anticipation of a tidal surge that is expected to occur at 4:30pm in Sunderland.

There is also a risk that large waves and wind-blown spray may affect the Seaburn and Roker Seafront until 5:30pm.

Residents are urged to prepare and take the necessary precautions for flooding to protect their property.

It is also advised to avoid beaches, promenades and areas that are affected by the surge, in keeping safe.
