A man has been rescued from the River Wear during the early hours of today.
It is believed that about 12:30am and 1:00am a man had got into difficulty around the Wearmouth Bridge and Panns Bank area of the River.
Fire, ambulance, police and costguards crews all attended the scene.
The condition of the rescued man is currently unknown.
