Pickup artist Daryush Valizadeh, better known as Roosh V, has organised events in eight cities across the UK, one of which is Newcastle.
Valizadeh teaches men how to pick up women and ignore them when they say ‘no’ and is actively against feminism.
A counter-protest has been planned for the same day as the Roosh V’s meet-ups will take place – at Grey’s Monument at 8pm, Saturday, February 6. This has been set up by Roweena Russell to try and combat the gathering.
Safiya Robinson, President of Newcastle University’s Feminist Society, said: “Newcastle University Feminist society objectively condemns Roosh V and any organised meet up of his followers in Newcastle.
“We are aware there is a counter-protest planned. However, for confidential safety concerns, we are not promoting this event or encouraging anyone to go. If you are planning to go, please go with a friend.
“Misogyny should never have a place in Newcastle or anywhere in the world.”
Scottish feminist Cat Boyd started a petition on February 1 to get the PUA banned from the country and tweeted that she got 10,000 signatures in 3 hours.
Started a petition at 10am this morning. Nearly 10,000 sigs by 3pm. Cheerio #RooshV 😂

She also tweeted her confusion as to why pro-rape pickup artists can walk free but swearing is punishable.
How can some1 get charged for swearing at the football, but pro-rape PUAs can roam the streets freely? What a mad world. Time for a change!

Rape Crisis Tyneside and Northumberland have been contacted for a quote about the event.
