A section of Timber Beach Road in Sunderland is to close next week.
It will close from Monday (February 1), as part of preparation works for Sunderland’s new bridge.
However, the other three access points into Sunderland Enterprise Park will remain open.
Timber Beach Road, which is off the A1231 Wessington Way, is one of four access roads into Sunderland Enterprise Park on the north side of the River Wear.
The closure is as a result of a wider highway improvement scheme for the New Wear Crossing project.
Signs warning of the road closure have been placed along Wessington Way during recent weeks for drivers to plan a different route into the business park.
A short diversion of the Coast to Coast cycling route will also be implemented in February and it will run past Sunderland Enterprise Park along to Hylton Park Road.
The diversion will be in place until the new bridge is open.
Other roadworks along several routes in the city will get underway in the coming weeks, which will allow construction workers to safely begin building the approach roads for the new bridge on both north and south side of the river.
The new bridge will cross the River Wear between Wessington Way in Castletown and European Way in Pallion.
You can keep up to date with the work planned as part of the New Wear Crossing project through the roadworks section of the project website.
