Northumberland County Council “are currently looking into what can be done to rehome the horses” in Embleton, which were threatened to be “humanely destroyed” in a note.

The note (pictured) which originally appeared to have been left by the Northumberland County Council, threatening to “humanely destroy” “abandoned” horses (pictured), has actually been put up by a “private landowner” – not by the Northumberland County Council – SR News understands.

The picture (above) of the note emerged on social media, Twitter and Facebook, and SR News contacted the County Council for a comment.

A spokesperson for the Northumberland County Council said: “The signage was put up by a private landowner, not the council.

“The landowner involved has been instructed to remove the signs immediately.”
