How Covid-19 has changed the job of a supermarket worker

Asda has remained open during the pandemic.

SUPERMARKETS remaining open, though socially distanced, have been one of the few constants of the pandemic and reminders of life outside of lockdown.

Whilst pubs, stadiums, barbers and shops have all been closed for the majority of the multiple lockdowns, supermarkets have been open throughout each lockdown as one of the UK’s essential businesses.

‘’People were rushing around because there was nowhere else to go’’, said Karen Boyd, formerly a cashier and now part of the Kitchen Staff at Asda Gateshead Supercentre.

She told SR News exactly how it felt to work in a supermarket during the last 12 months in the video below:
