University of Sunderland nursing programme wins NHS Excellence Award

The University of Sunderland’s nursing apprenticeship programme were presented with the Chief Executive Award at the annual Northumberland Tyne and Wear NHS Excellence Awards.

Developed in partnership with NHS trusts across North East, the university’s Registered Nurses Degree Apprenticeship scheme aims to tackle ward shortages in the region by training health care support workers.

Apprentice and Programme lead Jennifer Dent said: “Developing integrated teaching approach to meet regional workforce requirements is fundamental for the learning programme.”
