Police appeal for witnesses after Wallsend shopping centre theft

Northumbria Police are appealing for people with information about a theft that took place in the early hours of the morning of Tuesday January 29 at Forum Shopping Centre in Wallsend.

CCTV footage has picked up thieves smashing through the shopping centre doors with a car, and a large quantity of stock was stolen from an O2 store inside the shopping centre.

At around 4:10am police received a report that an alarm had been activated.  When officers attended the scene, they discovered that the shopping centre and the shop had been broken into and phones and other technical devices were taken.

PC David Hudson, from Northumbria Police, said: “The significant damage to the shopping centre and the burglary has caused substantial financial loss for the businesses involved.

“An investigation has been launched and I urge anyone with information or who may have been in the area at the time and witnessed something, to get in touch.”
