“The investigation into the murder of Sunderland school girl Nikki Allan is continuing more than 25 years after her death.
Northumbria Police have launched a new appeal following the discovery of new male DNA that may be a massive breakthrough to the ongoing investigation.
Nikki vanished on a Wednesday evening 25-years-ago shortly after leaving her grandparents flat. Sadly, her body was discovered in the derelict Exchange building when her shoes were found outside. She was stabbed 37 times in the chest.
According to the office of national statistics, Violence against a person, violence without injury, robbery, public order offences and miscellaneous crimes against society, are the most five increased crimes in the North-East over the past year.
In the past year, there has been a 24 per cent increase on the total of recorded crimes in the North-East, with public order offences being the most increased crime at 104 per cent. However, there has been a 10 per cent decrease in drug offences.
Anyone who may have information on Nikki’s death is urged to call the major crime team for Northumbria Police on 101.
