North East shoppers prefer to buy original designer goods over fakes

SRNews spoke to members of the public in Sunderland and Newcastle to hear whether they’d rather buy fake or real goods.

Fashion labels can be expensive, with some designer bags carrying a £2,000 price tag. This could make the allure of cheaper counterfeit goods almost irresistible but buying fake runs a risk. Cheaper goods can equal cheap labour, with the North East stating it would be put off goods if they were produced in sweatshop-style factories.

James, 24, from Newcastle spoke to SRNews and said: “If I knew this [cheap labour] was happening, I would avoid buying counterfeit.”
