Rum from all around the globe will fill Newcastle as they are set to host the UK’s first travelling rum festival.

Newcastle will host the brand new and original rum festival over the course of two days at Hoult’s Yard on April 28 and 29.

The festival will include over 100 different kinds of rum from around the world combined with live entertainment, food and free giveaways.

Rum is the most diverse and versatile of all the spirits particularly with this industry growing in Britain it can be enjoyed on it’s own, with a mixer or as part of a cocktail.

Lucy Douglas, founder of the festival, said: “The growth in the rum market and evolution in the variety of flavours and styles has been phenomenal over the last couple of years.

The festival is split into four different categories of rum including: White, Golden, Dark and Spiced or flavoured.

The festival will include rums of all flavours from all parts of the world with a wide variety of rums for people to try.

She added: “Having been to beer festivals and gin festivals we decided to set up something for rum drinkers, somewhere fun where they could try new and exciting rum whilst listening to great music.

Visitors will receive a free gift of a rum festival glass on entry and a brochure on all the products available at the event.

Drink vouchers will be available at the main hall to taste all the rums on offer. The vouchers also include a mixer of your choice and you can purchase as many or as little vouchers as you want.

As well as the rum itself there will also be live entertainment including steel drums, salsa and live blogs from rum experts. There will also be great food on offer and a cocktail team to knock up some of the best rum cocktails you’ll ever taste.
