Sunderland Shines as Spark Sweep I Love Student Radio Award Nominations

This week the I Love Student Radio Awards nominations were announced and Spark volunteers have been acknowledged across four different categories with a total of five nominations.

Community radio station Spark is at the heart of Sunderland. The station based in the University of Sunderland St. Peters campus could be adding more silverware to their trophy cabinet too.

The I Love Student Radio Awards are run by the Student Radio Association and will be announced at the SRA Conference in April.

Hundreds of students who volunteer at radio stations based in Universities around the country will be heading to Leicester next month in hope of winning an award and networking with industry stars such as Greg James, MistaJam and James O’brien.

Nathan Ely is the Programme Director of Spark and has spoken to SR News:

Nathan is amongst the nominees, acknowledged in the Most Committed Committee Member category.

Spark Reports have been nominated for Best Student Radio Team whilst a nod has been given to Andy Wilson for Hero Of The Moment.

Drive time Presenter Craig Berry,  Head of Local Music Emily Fox and Specialist Music Producer Lee Hawthorn have been nominated for Outstanding Contribution to a Student Radio Station.

The Sunderland station’s volunteers find out if they’ve won the awards they have been nominated for between the 19th and 21st of April.
