A1 reopened after multi-vehicle collision

The A1 northbound has been fully re-opened following a multi-vehicle collision near to the exit for the Team Valley this afternoon (Friday, July 29).

Delays are still expected in the area as there is heavy congestion but it should start moving again soon.

The whole of the northbound carriageway was shut to allow emergency services to attend.

There has now been a second collision on the southbound carriageway near to the Angel of the North involving half a dozen vehicles.
