Missing Hartlepool man David Dixon confirmed ‘Brussels Attacks’ victim

Missing man from Hartlepool David Dixon has been confirmed a victim of Tuesday’s ‘Brussels Attacks’.

The 53-year-old was living in Brussels as an IT programmer. His family appealed for his whereabouts when he had failed to turn up to work, however, it has now been confirmed by the foreign office and his family that he died in the attacks which killed 31 others.

A statement issued on behalf of Mr Dixon’s family said: “This morning we received the most terrible and devastating news about our beloved David.”

It was reported that he was contacted by a relative who warned him of the first attack that took place in Brusssel’s airport. He was safe until an hour later when the second incident took place at Maelbeek Metro station.

Cleveland Police released a statement regarding the victim’s family.

  The family of Mr Dixon are being supported by Family Liaison officers and they have asked that their privacy be respected at this difficult time and that they are not contacted directly by the media.

Police are also liaising with the Foreign Office on the matter.
