Today (March 20) Wearsiders head to St James’ Park in Newcastle for the Derby Day.

The Derby Day is the day when Sunderland AFC take on Newcastle United FC in a football match.

The Black Cats have won the Magpies six times in a row in previous Derby Day matches, so Sunderland fans will hope to do that again.

But, Newcastle also need a win today as they are in the relegation zone, along with Sunderland.

The last Tyne-Wear derby was held in October last year at the Stadium of Light, where Sunderland won 3-0.

Sunderland’s previous record playing away at Newcastle’s home ground is positive in recent years as they have won or drawn with the Magpies.

Many other football clubs throughout the country have their own Derby Day.

The Manchester Derby is also happening today.
