BREAKING: Body found in River Tyne confirmed as Sally Allan

Police have confirmed that the body found in the River Tyne, on Wednesday, is of missing Ponteland woman Sally Allan.

At 1:07pm Wednesday, February 3, the body of a woman was found in the water near the riverside in Jarrow.

The 59-year-old was last seen leaving her home, in Errington Road, sometime after 3am on Boxing Day.

Officers then released CCTV footage of the last confirmed sighting of Sally, where she was seen walking along the River Tyne at the rear of the Copthorne Hotel on Newcastle Quayside at around 6am on Boxing Day.

She was pictured walking from West to East, with the camera losing sight of her as she approached the Swing Bridge.

A report has been prepared for the coroner, with Northumbria Police adding: “Our thoughts continue to be with the family at this difficult time.”
