Pop star Will Young has tweeted his joy at headlining a major North East concert.
Will Young, along with Washington-born Bryan Ferry, have been announced for this year’s Mouth of the Tyne Festival.
They will perform on July 7 (Bryan Ferry) and 8 (Will Young), joining James Bay who will play to a sold-out crowd on Saturday July 9.

The pop star will bring his number one album 85% Proof to Tynemouth, as well as other hits such as Leave Right Now. Young shot to fame in 2002, wining music contest Pop Idol.
As well as music, The Brit Award winner is known for his political knowledge having studied politics at the University of Exeter, appearing on an episode of BBC’s Question Time in 2012.
Former Roxy Music singer Ferry will bring his back catalogue of tracks, spanning across his 45-year career in the music industry. He has released eight albums with Roxy Music, as well as 15 solo albums. His most recent album was released in 2014, titled Avonmore.
The festival is organised by North Tyneside Council and is celebrating its 12th year, previously hosting acts such as Paul Weller and The Specials.
North Tyneside Elected Mayor Norma Redfearn said: “We hope that the profile of these concerts will help boost the economy and increase tourism to the borough.”
Grammy-nominated James Bay is set to play on the Saturday night of the festival, with tickets having sold out in less than a week.
The festival will run until Sunday July 10, but North Tyneside Council were unable to confirm when the next announcement would be made.
Tickets for Bryan Ferry and Will Young, starting at £35, will be available Friday February 5 from 9am.
