Edward Westman, video producer at the University of Sunderland had several reasons to smile after collecting the commercial award at the Royal Television Society’s North East and borders awards show.
Held at the Hilton Newcastle Gateshead, Westman’s video depicted life at the North East institution and he noted: “If there is anything to the video it is that university is an adventure so you should make the most of it and while you’re at it have fun.”
Sir David Bell, Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive, University of Sunderland, said: “And who better than one of our graduates, Edward Westman, now an employee of the University, to create an exceptional and energetic film about student life on campus and around the city? The film was well received by our new students, at a series of events in September where I was able to welcome them personally to our University.”
The commercial award was one of seven won on the night by the University, with students and graduates also collecting awards in the comedy and entertainment, drama and production design, best factual short and camera categories.
Sir David Bell, said: “The overwhelming success of our graduates and students at this year’s RTS Awards directly reflects the standards of teaching and the quality of our film and media programmes.”
