Journalists from the North East are criticising the Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s actions after journalists were banned from a briefing about the EU on Monday January 3rd.
Selected journalists were banned while others were invited to attend, leading to many political reporters walking out of Downing Street.
Russ Ward, BBC Broadcast Journalist, said: “That’s the danger, you can’t do that, because you have got to be subject to examination.”
John Price, Senior Lecturer in Journalism, said: “I think as long as journalists stick together and don’t let politicians divide them, the Fourth Estate should continue to work.”
