Sunderland confectionery shop Sweet Home Alabama closes its doors

A Sunderland confectionery shop has closed its doors after 13 years of trading in the city centre.

Sweet Home Alabama, based on Fawcett Street, have ceased trading with immediate effect.

Owners of the specialist confectionery venue, Martin O’Neill and his wife Joan O’Neill, announced the closure today (Thursday, September 7).

The pair thanked their “loyal customers” in a statement on their Facebook page.

Martin and Joan added in their statement: “Love and thanks to you all.”
