Sunniside LIVE to return to Sunderland in July

Popular summer gig, Sunniside LIVE, is to return this year and bring all the fun to Sunderland, with a two-day event on Friday 7 to Saturday July 8.

Following on from its success with local support, Sunniside festival has been running for two years and this year they promise to “make it the best ever.”

The event will welcome over nine acts from different musical genres and Battle of the Bands 2015 winners, Social Rooms who are taking centre stage. Two headliners have been announced for each day.

Headlining on Friday will be Heather Small of M People, while Manchester group HAPPY MONDAYS open the show on Saturday.

Event organisers Helen Davies and Sean Maddison, who also work at Bar Justice and Gin & Bear It, are excited to be able to bring the festival to the people of Sunderland.

Helen says: “Sunniside Live is now the only event of its kind in the city. We are thrilled to bring such big names to Sunderland. Ticket prices have remained as low as possible with a full weekend only £35. Where else would you see Alistair Whitehead, Incognito, The Happy Mondays, The Farm and many more for such a bargain!?”

She encourages people to buy their early to avoid disappointment, as the capacity is limited with the festival situated in the city centre.

Partnering with Sun FM and supported by Sunderland BID, the event will run from 4pm to 10pm on Friday, and 12noon to 10pm on Saturday. Food stalls will be on service, as well as other restaurants and bars nearby.

Gemma Dishman, Communications and Marketing Manager at Sunderland BID says: “It’s great news that Sunniside Live is returning for a third year with an even stronger line-up, which will definitely help Sunderland make its mark on the music scene, along with showcasing all the fantastic bars and restaurants around the Sunniside area.”

Simon Grundy, Content Director at Sun FM says he’s looking forward to relive the 90’s. “Can’t believe how good the line-up is this year, all credit to the organisers who’ve managed to secure such brilliant acts and bands this year. We here at Sun FM are really proud to be the media partner for Sunniside Live. The area looks great after being regenerated two years ago, and it’s fantastic that the open space is being used for a 2 day festival this year.”
