Appeal after arson in Winlaton

Police are appealing for information after an arson to a house in Winlaton.

At 10:14pm on Sunday, April 3, someone set fire to the front door of a property in Lime Street in Gateshead.

The fire brigade were called and extinguished the fire before it could cause extensive damage.

No-one was injured during the incident.

Enquiries were immediately launched by officers and witnesses reported seeing a man running down Lime Street, away from the address, and towards Shibdon Bank around the time of the fire.

He was described as wearing a blue hooded jacket with the hood up and light grey tracksuit trousers.

A 21-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of arson and has been bailed pending further enquiries.
