34-year-old man in “critical condition” after Sunderland assault

Police are investigating an assault in Sunderland are re-appealing for witnesses.

On Monday, March 21, a 34-year-old man was assaulted in Brady Street in the Pallion area of the city.

The victim was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle, with significant head injuries where he remains in a critical condition.

The offenders made off from the scene at the time of assault and enquiries are ongoing to identify and arrest them.

Detective Sergeant Lynne Colledge said: “The victim suffered very serious injuries in this assault, he is currently in hospital in a critical condition, and it is vitally important that we identify the people responsible.

“Our enquiries so far lead us to believe that people in the local community in Pallion will have information about the assault and may know the identify of the offenders.

“However, as yet no-one has come forward with information.

“These people may have vital information that can help in our enquiries and it is really important they get in contact with us.

“No matter how insignifcant they think the information may be we want to hear from them.”
