Police appeal after woman robbed in Sunderland street

Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman was robbed in a Sunderland street.

It happened in the back lane of Keats Avenue in Marley Pots at 7.45am on Friday, April 1.

A 59-year-old woman had just taken out money from the TSB cashpoint on The Green and was walking along the lane when she was approached by a man.

He demanded cash and stole a quantity of cash from her before making off.

The offender is described as a white man, aged approximately 20 years old, large build, medium height and wearing a coat with the hood up and grey jogging bottoms. After the robbery he ran off towards Kismet Street area.

The woman was shocked but otherwise uninjured.

Police are appealing for witnesses anyone who was in the area and who may have seen or heard anything suspicious is asked to contact police.
