Police investigating a rape on Newcastle Quayside have arrested a man in connection with the incident.
The incident occurred between 9.45pm and 10.30pm on Friday, March 25, when a 25-year-old woman was attacked as she walked along the Close, near to the Quayside bar.
Enquiries into the incident are ongoing but police have now arrested a 27-year-old man on suspicion of rape and he remains in police custody.
Extra patrols are being carried out in the area to speak to residents and business owners in the area while specialist officers continue to support the 25-year-old victim.
