Appeal after woman assaulted and robbed in Newcastle

Police are appealing for information after a woman was assaulted and robbed in Newcastle.

At around 7.50pm on Saturday, March 26, a 67-year-old women was attacked by an unknown male outside her home on Lonnen Avenue in Denham.

The offender pushed the victim to the ground before grabbing her handbag and fleeing the scene.

She was not injured in the incident but was left very shaken.

The male is described as white, of medium build, around 6ft tall, with short hair and aged between 16 and 25.

He is described as wearing a dark hoody.

Police have attended the address and extra patrols have been canvassing the area to carry out enquiries and reassure members of the local community.

Newcastle Chief inspector Ali Best said: “We are keen to trace anyone who can help us locate the person responsible for this opportunist and cowardly attack.

“The female victim was not injured in the incident but is very shaken by what has happened and our officers are offering her continued support.

“We believe this is an isolated incident but extra patrols will be in place across Fenham area to carry out enquiries and reassure any concerned members of the public.”
