SR News has been shortlisted by Student Publication Association (SPA) to compete against another 13 publications for a national award.

The award category is for the Best Website, which will recognise the best overall website and take into account design, production, content, overall impact and user engagement.

The SPA is a national body that represents student publications and journalists across the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland.

MediaHub Intern and Launch Editor of SR News Violeta Gorcheva said: “It is an honour to be shortlisted in such a big category.

“The student reporters and editors have worked hard to earn this praise and I am glad it has been recognised by SPA.

“I would love to see SR News win for a second time, after we were placed first on a national round-up following our excellent General Election 2015 coverage, where we worked 24/7 to produce our audience with the latest.

“I am extremely proud and excited to see the website grow and evolve so successfully.”

The winners will be announced at a special awards ceremony in Loughborough University, from April 8 – 10.
