Police appeal after fatal crash in Gateshead

Northumbria police are investigating death of an 83-year-old man, who was knocked over while crossing a road in Gateshead, and want to speak to the two unidentified drivers of these cars.

On Tuesday, January 26, William Raine, 83, from Bircham Drive in Blaydon was knocked over by a Nissan Micra while he crossed the road at the bottom of Shibdon Bank.

This picture was taken in the area shortly before the collision took place.

The police are appealing for the two drivers in a grey/silver Toyota Avensis and a red Ford Focus to come forward as they are believed to have witnessed the collision which caused the death of William Raine.
