All three Sunderland MPs have shown their support for the EU In campaign.
Julie Elliot, MP for Sunderland Central, Sharon Hodgson, MP for Washington and Sunderland West and Bridget Phillipson, MP for Houghton and Sunderland South confirmed their stance on the EU referendum.
Ms Elliot retweeted the ‘Stonger In’ campaign, with the picture attached reading “voting to remain in Europe”.

The MP also urged people to add a Twibbon to their Twitter profile pictures showing their support for Labour In Britain.

Bridget Phillipson also took to Twitter to share her support for the EU In campaign.

The third Sunderland MP, Sharon Hodgson has now publicly expressed her stance in a statement on her website.
Part of her statement said: “As a region, the North-East benefits greatly from our membership of the EU.”
The statement on the Washington and Sunderland West MP’s website also added: “The next few months will be important in deciding the future of the UK, and may be one we never see again in our lifetime.
