Police appeal after woman is assaulted in South Shields


Police are appealing for information after a 56-year-old woman was assaulted in South Shields.

The woman was approached by a group of youths who asked her for a cigarette and to buy alcohol for them. The woman refused and was pushed to the ground.

She suffered minor injuries as a result of the fall.

It’s believed some of the youths were on bikes.

The incident happened between 6.45pm on Monday, December 28, and 7pm on Monday, December 28, in the pathway between Farnham Road and Egerton Road that runs behind the dairy in Egerton Road.

Officers are carrying out enquiries and appealing for any witnesses.
